Come di consuetudine, passeggiata solitaria all’alba nella cittadina di Alma (Saguenay Fjord district), ricchissima colazione, zaini pronti e direzione navigatore l’ Historique Village de Val-Jalbert .

Val-Jalbert è stata fondata nel 1901 quando “Jalbert” costruì un “Mulino cartiera” per soddisfare la crescente domanda di carta in Gran Bretagna e America. La posizione era ideale poiché l'energia necessaria per far funzionare i macchinari poteva essere prodotta da due cascate. Abbandonata nel corso di vicende storiche, il sito è stato sviluppato e per la prima volta aperto al pubblico negli anni '60. Questa “Ghost Town” è stata trasformata in albergo diffuso. Sono state restaurate le case degli operai, la scuola gestita dalle monache, il General Store e la vecchia fabbrica ora trasformata in ristorante. C'è una grandiosa cascata che all'epoca generava l'energia elettrica per i macchinari… oggi si può raggiungere la cima con una comoda teleferica o con circa 400 gradini! (Fatti rigorosamente in discesa). Gran bel sito storico, mantenuto maniacalmente e con attori ad orari stabiliti che inscenano la vita del ‘900

Tardo pomeriggio trascorso in piscina nello splendido OTL Gouverneur Hotel con cena fantastica da Boefisch restaurant …

Village historique de Val-Jalbert

As usual, a solitary walk at dawn in the town of Alma (Saguenay Fjord district), a very rich breakfast, backpacks ready and navigator direction the Historique Village de Val-Jalbert .

Val-Jalbert was founded in 1901 when “Jalbert” built a “Paper Mill” to meet the growing demand for paper in Great Britain and America. The location was ideal because the energy needed to run the machinery could be produced by two waterfalls. Abandoned during historical events, the site was developed and opened to the public for the first time in the 60s. This “Ghost Town” has been transformed into a widespread hotel. The workers' houses, the school run by the nuns, the General Store and the old factory now transformed into a restaurant have been restored. There is a magnificent waterfall that once generated electricity for the machinery... today you can reach the top with a comfortable cable car or with about 400 steps! (Strictly done downhill). Great historical site, obsessively maintained and with actors at set times who stage life in the 1900s
